The fourth release from “And Now…”

Back in 2015 I had a side project called TVHWY with James MacMillan. Over the course of a year we had written the skeletons of 10 to 12 originals and he brought up the idea of covering Bruce Springsteen’s “I’m On Fire.” At that point I was not a fan ( I think it was the saxophone).

Life happened and our other projects (The Gentry for me and Stateside Management for James) took priority. About four months ago a friend of Marcus’s (Jake Pagnini) and I were talking about how much we love music biographies, he suggested checking out Bruce Springsteen’s “Born To Run”. I did and it changed my appreciation of him entirely. As I listened, I really connected with his story telling. With each chapter I would pause the audiobook and listen to the corresponding album. It helped me get a deeper understanding of what was so great about Bruce Springsteen.

One of the things that made me connect with The Boss so quickly, was the Italian side of his family, which naturally reminded me a lot of mine. I also connected with his voracious appetite for music, which has always been my game. His teenage obsessions with The Rolling Stones and later Woody Guthrie paralleled my idolization of Trent Reznor or David Bowie.

Hearing The Boss, in his own words, speaking about his journey of creating was a moving experience and prompted me to finish my version of his song “Im On Fire” I hope you like it.

Oh yeah, honorable mention goes out to my friend Ari Moghaddam who played the pads in the 2nd verse.
